at MK for both civil and military aviation was

recommended at intervals by the O.D.C. and

the C.I.D. from 1925 onwards, but no action

was taken immediately on account partly of

expense and partly of the difficulties which

would have been raised in view of the terms

of the Washington Treaty. The matter was

lent greater urgency by the troubles which

broke out in China in 1926; and in 1927 it

was decided to acquire the Kai Tak

Reclamation site for this purpose. The

and it was consequently proposed by the Hong

Kong Government that the cost should be

shared by the local Government and the Air
